Officials make our game! Without umpires, there is no netball, so we take pride in not only providing pathways for new umpires but also creating opportunities for qualified umpires to continue to develop.

At Market Harborough Netball League, we know that great umpires are essential to the game. We're committed to supporting and developing officials at every stage of their umpiring journey, helping to ensure a positive experience for players and umpires alike.

League Requirements
To enter the league, each team must provide either:

• One England Netball C Award Umpire, or

• Two umpires who have completed the Into Officiating course and are actively working towards their C Award qualification.
  We recognise that courses aren't always immediately available, so the league is committed to supporting officials as they progress, including providing financial assistance towards their C Award qualification.

Annual Umpire Update
Before umpiring league matches each season, all umpires must attend our annual rules update, scheduled in the hour before the season-opening tournament 05.09.2026.

These sessions ensure everyone starts the season with confidence and a consistent understanding of the latest rules and interpretations.

Ongoing Support

Learning doesn't stop once you're qualified.

Qualified umpires can access mentoring to:

• Build confidence

• Stay sharp throughout the season

• Develop consistency

• Understand and apply new rule updates

Mentoring is provided by Sue Ellis and can be arranged through Wendy.

• Receive league updates

• Support one another throughout the season
