Lutterworth Robins vs Phoenix 58

Opening the day of netball saw two of the newest teams to the league Lutterworth Robins and Phoenix 58 come head to head in a fantastically competitive game. Phoenix 58 made a strong start to the game with Jenny Paris making some key interceptions in defence making the score at half time 27-10 in their favour. Lutterworth dug deep to break down play with Ella Moffatt working tirelessly in defence not only stopping Phoenix in their tracks in the shooting circle but also being a vital player when bringing the ball down the court. Hayley Bradley made her mark for Phoenix with some strong link play from the centre position with Lynn Coleman as WA ensuring the win for Phoenix 58. Final score here, 63-27.

PE Active Vs Aircare Lightning

Over on the other court, PE Active played Aircare Lightning. The first quarter showed that we were in for a great game with the close 12-9 scoreline in the favour of PE Active. Throughout the game PE Actives Georgia Weall was commanding in the defensive unit, making it hard work to penetrate the goal for the lightning shooters, however Elise Wearity managed to hold her own in the shooter position making the most of the scoring opportunities.

Down the other end Weller Howard for PE active also took some incredible shots to ensure a 10 goal lead going into the second half.

The game really stepped up another level in the second half with Lightning fighting back. The fourth quarter saw some wonderful movement and shooting from Lightnings Amy Hayward to draw the quarter, however, the win went to PE active. Final score, 51-41.

A Plan Emeralds Vs Vanelli Vixens

One of the next set of matches saw A plan Emeralds take on Vanelli Vixens.

Vanelli came out very strong into the first quarter with Maya Topping converting some great goals for the team creating a 10-3 lead. The second quarter saw A-plan getting into he game with some strong defence from Fiona French and shooting brilliance from Nicola Allen.

Vanelli stayed consistent with their scoreline each quarter with Flori Switzer maintaining a great shooting record for the team and whilst every effort from A- plans key feeder Charlotte Roy was made to keep them in with a chance of catching Vanelli, the final score went the way of the Vixens with a 42- 27 win.

Siamo Sirens Vs Welland Valley Blinders

There was a strong start from WVB on the other court at this time with Jo Mcdonald dominating the shooting circle giving her team a 5 goal lead going into the second quarter. Siamo came back strong in the second and third quarter of the game though with Daisy Humphries matching the shooting form of the other team and netting some important goals putting them just into the lead going into the final quarter.

Some great defensive centre court link up between Siamo’s Clair Wright and Liv O’Brian enabled them to keep building on their lead and despite some excellent play through the court from Krish Dorji for WVB they couldn’t keep themselves in the game finishing 42- 29 to Siamo Sirens.

Aircare Thunder vs Club Correze

It was bound to be a highly contested game with two of the top teams playing for the last matches of the day! Both teams came out firing working the ball from end to end but Aircare with the strong attacking unit of Ellie Chapman and Elise Wearity pairing well scored 16 goals to Club Coreze’s 8 in the 1st quarter. The second quarter with strong defence from Aircare Thunder they continued to pull away creating a strong lead of 28 -12. With a tactical change of Becca Wayman to GD club correze fought back with some great defensive play getting the ball to Andrea Hewitt who shot beautifully. It was a gripping final half but Aircare Thunder came out the victors: 60 - 31.

Foxton Flyers vs Turners Tornadoes

Foxton Flyers certainly went out flying during this game setting their ambitions for a high scoring game with 18 goals to Turners 4 in the 1st quarter. The defensive work from GD Rebecca Deacon kept Turners chances to score low and moved the ball with speed up to the attack allowing for the high volume of goals. Turners GK Sian Lynes battled hard not making it easy for the Foxton Flyers along with Turners Liv Tushington working hard to bring the ball up to the attacking end. Foxton Flyers kept the consistency with their shooting with Justine Tilson shooting or finding the GS with pin point accuracy throughout. Foxton flyers won the game 63 - 18.
