Harborough Harriers vs. Vanelli Vixens - 1:05pm:

It was a fairly even beginning in Q1, each team in turn converting their centres to goals. With some hard worked passing around the Harriers’ goal circle from attackers Sophie Weston (WA) and Kerri Colquhoun (C) for their goals. As well as several great Vixens’ turnovers which saw them begin to stretch out a lead of 17-12 at the end of Q1. With only 6 players throughout, Vixens put in an athletic team performance to cover all areas of the court, with exceptional play between Lydia Grandidge (WA) and Tilly Dargie (C). By half time the score was 30-23 in Vixens’ favour. The final quarter returned to a more even score line with defenders at both ends making a notable impact. Esme Durham (GD) for Vixens and Jess Davies (GD) for Harriers, both had strong games for their teams. Q4 saw Harriers score 12 to Vixens’ 13. The final result was a 54 - 42 victory to Vixens.

Blinders & Aircare Lighting - 1:05pm:

Both teams came out very strong and energetic which made for an exciting first quarter, with only 1 goal separating them. Aircare Lightning scoring 8 to Welland Valley Blinders’ 7.

An exceptional performance from Lightnings’ Amy Langton at WD/GD saw them slow down Blinders’ goals and start to stretch a lead. 17 - 12 was the score at the end of Q2.

Blinders fought hard with solid defensive play from Eloise Baillie (GD) and a high energy performance from her team mate Krish Darji at C.

By Q3 Lightning were dominating possession and GA/GS Emilia Lowe was confident in converting this to goals. Lightning going ahead by 29 goals to 17.

At the opposite end of the court, Blinders’ GA Sam Petterson was also putting in a strong performance, but it was not enough to close the gap on Lightning who were now in full flow in the final quarter. The game finished 43-21 with the victory going to Aircare Lightning.

Phoenix 58 vs Foxton Flyers - 2:25pm:

Over on court 2 was a battle between Phoenix 58 and Foxton Flyers. New team Phoenix 58 put in a strong first quarter performance with Hayley Key (C) working the centre court and helping secure their team a lead of 16-3. Flyers came back in the second quarter with some fantastic defending from Justine Tilson at GD, however this wasn’t enough and Phoenix 58 went into half time with a score of 32-11.

Phoenix 58 came into the second half with fighting spirit and determined to keep their lead. Caroline Paris (WD) helped Phoenix get several turnovers which resulted in them increasing their lead further to 51-18 after Q3.

Flyers didn’t give up and with some great shooting from Sara Mangan (GS), managed to increase their score but this wasn’t enough as some seamless shooting from Lorna Croucher (GA) meant Phoenix 58 ended the game with a 65-23 win.

Correze vs A plan Emeralds - 2:25pm:

The second match on court saw Club Correze take on A Plan Emeralds. Correze pulled away in the first quarter with a strong performance by Andrea Flewitt at GS helping to give the team the lead of 8-4. A-plan Emeralds came back determined and Harriet Croft (C) helped their team get the ball back down to the circle however this wasn’t enough against the great defending from Becca Wayman (WD) with Correze growing their lead further with a half-time score of 19-5.

The second half saw A-plan convert their efforts with some great shooting increasing their lead by 5 however Correze secured a few turnovers resulting in a Q3 score of 32-9.

Going into the last quarter, A-Plan continued to fight with Fiona French (GK) being relentless for the team however they went a player down due to injury. Correze took advantage of this, with Emily Morgan (C) helping get the ball down centre court and they were able to increase their lead to take the win with a final score of 45-10.

Siamo Sirens vs Aircare Thunder - 3:45pm:

The last game to take place on court 1, saw Aircare get a crucial turnover on the first centre pass from Sarah Bates (WA) giving them an instant lead. Siamo fought back with Claire Wright (C) helping to get the ball down court. Aircare managed to pull into the lead after quarter 1 with a score of 19-4.

In Quarter 2, Siamo come back fighting and took the first centre pass and converted this to a goal. However it wasn’t long before Aircare Thunder responded with Ellie Chapman (GS) helping to expand their lead further with some accurate shooting. Some fantastic interceptions from by Siamo kept in the game scoring 6 in Q2 and taking the score to 35-10 at half time.

After half time, Aircare Thunder came storming further into the lead with Jodie Haines (GK) getting some great interceptions, ensuring that the ball went back down to attack and the score being 52-13 at the end of Q3.

Heading into the final quarter, Siamo gave it everything with Louise Boston (GS) helping them nudge their score closer and give Siamo their highest scoring quarter however this wasn’t quite enough and Aircare continued to prove too strong in attack taking the win with a final score of 64-21.

Lutterworth Robins v Foxton Mavs - 3:45pm:

A very fast paced game from the first whistle. Key interceptions and defensive pressure from Foxton Mavericks forced some early Lutterworth Robins’ errors and allowed Mavs to push ahead 28-5 at the end of Q1.

Despite a great interception from Robins’ GD to start Q2, Mavs continued to dominate play. An unfortunate injury to the Mavs’ GK meant a substitution and reshuffle for Mavs’ defence. With Charlotte Asprey making vital interceptions for Mavs, in both WD and then GD.

Consistent fast drives and pin-point passing between Mavs’ WA Emily Bryan and GA Evie Van Nierop helped the team increase their goals and pull away to a 45-15 lead at the end of Q2.

Robins continued to battle hard as a team in both Q3 and Q4 with great stamina shown throughout by their C, Sarah Puts. And persistent strength shown by Skye Castle in GA, allowing them to close the gap a little on Mavs. Robins scored 11 in Q3 and again in Q4, with Mavs scoring 15 and then 16. Nevertheless Mavs’ speed and strength was relentless. Enabling them to steam ahead with 60 goals to Robins’ 26 by the close of Q3.

There were turnovers by both teams in Q4 but Mavs’ pacy play kept them on track for the win. The score at the final whistle was 76-37 to Mavs.
