Foxton Mavericks v Turners Tornadoes

On the other court Foxton Maverick played against Turners Tornadoes. Foxton Mavericks had a very strong first quarter with some fantastic shooting from Billingham. Mavericks continued to take control of the game but Tornadoes continued to work hard, with Molly Beard putting pressure on the Mavericks and limiting their attack in the third quarter. However, Mavericks pushed forward again in the final quarter with some impressive defence from Lucy Matthews-Kirk as GK. Despite Sophie Chester and Charlotte Asprey driving the ball up to the attacking the final score ended 79-30 to Mavericks.

Foxton Flyers v A Plan Emeralds

First to the court on Saturday was Foxton Flyers against A Plan Emeralds. Foxton Flyers took the early lead with a strong defence and interceptions from Justin Tilson wearing the GD bid. Emeralds

came back fighting, with some fantastic connecting play and movement in the attacking third, by Charlotte Roy and Anya Classick. By halftime the score was a close 15-8 to Flyers. In the second half, Emeralds worked hard to try and catch Flyers with some impressive shooting by Sophie White, but with fantastic defensive play from Flyers Amber Flatters and shooting from Sara Mangan the final score was 35-18 to Foxton Flyers.

Harborough Harriers v Lutterworth Robins

Up next on the court was Horbrough Harriers against Lutterworth Robins. The first quarter started out with a close score line of 9-5 to Harriers and this battle continued throughout the match. There

was some fantastic play linking from Harriers Jess Davis in the centre position to the attack which allowed Emma Walker to show off her shooting skills. Lutterworth Robins Ella Moffatt put in the

work in the defence which kept the score close into the second half of the match. Despite some fantastic linking play from the centre into the attacking third by Kerri Colquhon, the Harriers pulled

ahead and the final score ended 36-21 to Harborough Harriers

PE Active VS Aircare Thunder

PE Active and Aircare Thunder’s game got off to a quick start with Aircare taking the lead, scoring 14-5 by the end of the first quarter. Tash Litchfield and Jackie Brookes gave a sterling performance in their centre court and defence for PE Active, keeping the score to 26-10 at halftime. However, attacking play by WA Amy Hayward and defending from Jodie Haines strengthened Aircare Thunder’s lead with the final score of 52-27.

Vanelli Vixens & Aircare Lightning

Vanelli Vixens and Aircare Lightning got off to a steady start with a score of 9-8 to Vanelli at the end of the first quarter. Star performances from Flori Switzer and Kate Bensi gained a fantastic lead for Vanelli in the second quarter. Amy Langton played a brilliant defence for Aircare Lightning, but with Maya Topping’s shooting on top form, the final score was 53-29 to Vanelli Vixens.

Siamo Sirens & Pheonix 58

Pheonix 58 and Siamo Sirens ended Saturday’s matches with a great game. Pheonix were quick to take a strong lead. Siamo Sirens’ energetic Mandy Dargie worked the centre court brilliantly, with Maisy Humphries’ and Laura Stenning’s fantastic shooting maintaining throughout the match, but Pheonix’s Sam Colclough-Griffin and Hannah Stretton Sambrook dominated the game, taking the win for Pheonix 58 with a final score of 67-18.

Also, a quick thank you to everyone who has donated at our fundraising events so far. We held a cake sale at the start of the season tournament for our charity of the season which is UK Sepsis Trust, we must have eaten many cakes as we raised £129.67. We also supported breast cancer awareness month and put some pink on court & raised £171.75 which is on its way to Breast Cancer Now. Thank you!
